Simply put, an eBook is an electronic book. Readers can view eBooks in several formats: diskette, CD, or downloadable file. Downloading files from the Internet is by far the most common way of obtaining eBooks.

People can read their eBooks right on their personal computers or on special eBook readers. EBook readers have a few distinct advantages over computers: Users can make notes, highlight pages, and save selected text. Plus, at two pounds, lightweight eBook readers are easier to carry around than even laptop computers. Some are backlit for easy reading; most allow readers to change the font, a particularly good feature for people who prefer large print. Depending on their capacity, eBook readers store anywhere from 4,000 to over half a million pages.

Many books that appear in print have now been turned into eBooks. Readers may now find their favorite books in electronic format. They can read the works of world famous authors such as Robert Atkins, Gary Zukav, and Montel Williams in eBook format.

Other authors write manuscripts specifically as eBooks; these are books that have not appeared in print. This is an increasingly popular way for new authors to self-publish their work. Authors can get their work out to the public without going through a publishing house.

EBooks cover a wide variety of interesting topics. The most popular topics are business opportunities, health and fitness, making money, and how-to subjects. Here are some recent titles: Free Money for Life, Law Made Easy, Business Marketing for Profit 101, and Low-fat Cocktail Recipes. One EBook seller lists many more books on home business, self-improvement, and finance than on any other topics.

Certain commercial websites use eBooks to inform prospective clients about their business offerings. Such sites offer free downloads of their eBooks as a marketing tool, with the hope that a percentage of their readers will buy their products. For example, an informative eBook on fishing could refer to an online hobby store, and even include links to a page for purchasing fishing supplies.

Other sites use eBooks for educational purposes and offer downloads for free or at a nominal cost. Non-profits such as environmental and health organizations might employ this strategy to involve people in their issues.

The majority of eBooks, however, are sold on commercial websites. Large bricks and mortar bookstores sell eBooks on their websites. Other online booksellers specialize in eBooks or sell both eBooks and printed books. Some sellers might provide the first chapter or table of contents of an eBook for free so customers can “browse” through it before deciding to buy. EBooks may cost less, the same, or more than traditional paper books.

EBooks that are written specifically for the Internet and eBooks that are adapted from print may contain word or subject searches and hyperlinks to other sites or other sections of the eBook. This can be an effective marketing tool.

EBooks offer a remedy to concerns that Americans are reading less and less every year. By using 21st technology to promote the age-old art of reading, E-books contribute to a literate and intelligent society.

Before you start splurging money, do you know that you could often get free, high quality stuff on dating and seduction on the internet?

If you look closely enough, you will find loads of free materials (ebooks, mp3s and video files) readily available for free. And yes, they are all legal, and has nothing to do with p2p networks such as bittorrent, kazaa or limewire. In this article, I will show you where to get your hands on these goodies.

Free ebooks The current best resource for written material is at fastseduction.com. The website hosts a collection of PDF documents of archived postings of top PUAs (pickup artists) in the forum. Some of the PDFs available are archives of posts of Mystery (Venusian Arts), Zan (Enlightened Seduction) and Tyler Durden (Real Social Dynamics). These are free to download, and while not in the best format to be digested by the reader, they give good insights on how the thinking on seduction evolved over the years.

Other free written resources are excerpts from paid ebooks. Just like movie trailers, the best bits of the actual product is often shared so to entice the prospect to buy the product. Good examples are the excerpts from Magic Bullets and Venusian Arts Handbook ebooks, both published by the guys at Mystery Method.

Free newsletters If you need to sign up for one e-newsletter only, it has to be Cliff’s List (cliffslist.com). Cliff is a seduction expert from Canada, and is probably the guy with the biggest network in the seduction community. Because of his vast contacts, he is able to get top notch quality stuff from the big name PUAs (pickup artists) to share their knowledge. Signing up on Cliff’s List is a definite must if you want to stay on the edge of pickup knowledge.

Other good newsletters to sign up at Ross Jeffries’ at SpeedSeduction.com and David DeAngelo’s at DoubleYourDating.com – but do bear in mind that these are ‘high frequency’ newsletters so you probably won’t like them if you want your inbox to remain uncluttered. However, Ross Jeffries do toss in free ebooks and multimedia materials from time to time and so it’s well worth the subscribe.

Free audio and video Youtube.com probably has the biggest repository of seduction related materials out there. A quick search of the keywords “seduction” and “dating” would result in video files of David DeAngelo (excerpts from his seminars), Style (instruction videos on his Stylelife Challenge program), Ross Jeffries (his seminars) and a score of others.

Highly recommended on Youtube is an episode of “Seduction School” aired in the UK in 2006. Starring Juggler (from Charisma Arts) and his sidekick Johnny Saviour, he trained three men who had problems dealing with women to successfully score dates in a matter of two weeks. Brilliant stuff.

Before you splurge your hard-earned money on dating products peddled to you daily, do look around in the internet for the materials which are already available for free. If you look hard enough, you will find high quality ebooks, mp3s and videos which are highly comparable in quality with paid products.

If you have a little bit of design talent and know how to use a graphics program, then there are some great software solutions out there for you. Once again, the cost varies depending on the capabilities of the program. Most of them give you a free trial period in which time you can probably get most of the ebook covers you need completed. The problem for most people is that they really have no design talent and don’t want to spend the effort learning how to use a graphics program. That’s where this tutorial comes in.  

What I’m about to show you is how you can create an awesome looking ebook cover with little to no design ability. No, it’s not a magic trick or hypnosis, just simple step by step instructions. The best part about the whole thing is that you will be using only free tools available on the internet. I will show you exactly how to get them, how to install them, and how to use them. If you don’t want to read how to do all of this you can watch the free video tutorials and download all the free programs. Let’s get on with the tutorial.  

Step 1. Get Your Tools.  

The first tool I want you to download is Paint.net. This is a free program that acts very similar to Photoshop from Adobe. In fact, it has some very useful features that Photoshop unfortunately doesn’t have. The next tools you want to get are some plug-ins for Piant.net. Since Paint.net is an open source program, it doesn’t come with all of the features we need. Some great programmers out there have developed plug-ins to do the things that we need. The first one is the oblique tool. This allows us to create angles for our graphics and give us a 3-D feel. The next tool is the reflection plug-in. This gives a nice professional look to the cover. The final plug-in is the drop shadow effect. This is optional and I show you in the videos how to get around using this plug-in.  

Step 2. Installing The Tools.  

Once you’ve downloaded Paint.net go ahead and use the defaults to install it. Once Paint.net is installed you’ll need to install the plug-ins. Click on your computer icon and select Program Files then select Paint.NET then effects. This is where you’ll extract the plug-ins from their zipped files to. It should look like this C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/effects.  

Step 3. Getting The Templates

Now you have all of the tools you’ll need some ebook cover templates. There are a few sites that you can use and download the files for free ebook2u and ebooktemplatesource are good places to start. Pick a cover style you like and save it to your computer.

Step 4. Finding Graphics

If you have an idea of what you want your cover to look like then you should be able to find those images on the internet. Make sure they are not licensed and are free to use. Once you have a few images you can play with them to see which ones you like.

Step 5. Building Your Cover Graphic  

Open up Paint.NET and create a new project. Decide what graphics to use and open them up. Copy your graphics and paste them into a new layer on your new project. You can move the graphics around until you like the position of them. Each time you add another image, text, or shape make sure you use a new layer. Next, create a new layer and click on the text tool to the left. Pick the font, size, and style you want and start typing. You can move this around to your liking. If you don’t like the way the text looks try a different font, style etc. If you still don’t like the way it looks go to cooltext.com and you can create your own text image and use that. Once you’ve played around with the layers, graphics, and text and come up with something to your liking it’s time to create the ebook cover.

Step 6. Creating The Ebook Cover  

Open the file of the book template you liked. Use the magic wand on the left and click the book cover. It should select the section that you want to change the color of. If not change the Tolerance on the menu bar and keep trying until you get the correct selection. Select the Paint Bucket on the left and fill with the color you want the background to be. If you can’t find the colors to select they are on the Window menu and select Colors.   Copy your cover creation and paste into a new layer on that template. Now you need to resize the image to fit on the cover. As you can see the shapes don’t match. This is where you need to use the oblique plug-in you’ve installed. Click on Effects then Distort to select the Oblique tool. Adjust the angle to fit the shape of your cover. 

Move it and resize until it looks good.  

If your okay with the spine the way it is great, if not the you’ll need to create a new project and then paste that into a new layer and rotate it, resize it, and move it into position.   When you’re happy with the style of the ebook cover it’s time to create the effects to get that professional look. Select the layer that contains the image you’ve created. Go to Effects and select Reflection and play around with it until you like what you see. Next, select the ebook cover template layer. Go to Effects, Stylize and select the Drop Shadow. Play around with it and see if you like the effect.

If you don’t like the way that looks I’ll show you an alternative way to do it. I hope this helps and gets you on your way to selling lots of ebooks.
